Description

We want to establish a Community Garden and an apple orchard to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase awareness of how communities can contribute to net-zero across Edinburgh Council area. Our project would involve communities in Slateford Green and Gorgie Park Close with many volunteers in growing salad, small vegetable crops and using novelty approaches like 'tattie bags' to get everyone involved. The project will pull two and more resident communities together helping to create social cohesion and involvement of different age ranges, ethnic and cultural backgrounds in ways that improve health and wellbeing as well as helping achieve net zero for Edinburgh. Our garden project will be driven and led by resident enthusiasts within the local community who we will help to form into a Neighbourhood Friends of group based on our successful Thornybauk garden project

Location: Areas of green near Slateford Green/Gorgie Park Close
