Sauchiebank Gardens - Option 6
Project code: 101
Project Summary
Have your say on which of these exciting mural designs is your preference. It is planned for the preferred designs to be painted in Dalry Community Park and Sauchiebank Gardens - two sections of the new Roseburn to Union Canal Link. We hope that you like the proposed designs. We think that they will add colour and vibrancy to the Link and further enhance the user experience.Project Description
Several mural designs have been produced by local artists and it is planned that one of these designs will be painted on walls within the newly reinvigorated Dalry Community Park and one will be painted along the retaining wall up the ramp from Russell Road within the Sauchiebank Gardens section. Three designs have been produced for each area and the public are invited to select which design they prefer for each area. It is then hoped that the preferred artist will be commissioned by Edinburgh Collective and the designs painted during the Spring / Summer of 2026.
Location: The northernmost section of the site, newly named Sauchiebank Gardens. The mural is proposed for the retaining wall that bounds the ramp that leads up from Russell Road.
Proposed on behalf of: The artistic interventions will be delivered through a collaboration of City of Edinburgh Council and Edinburgh Collective. Funding for the project has been secured from City of Edinburgh Council, Sustrans and Balfour Beatty, who acted as contractor for the overall Roseburn to Union Canal Link construction phase.
I love it. A proposal with a cycling spirit is the best. Radiant colors that improve your mood.
I love this brilliant mural image! It has happy, vibrant colours! The girl cycling with her pet. It reflects the wonderful vibe of Edinburgh!
The woman on the bike reminds me of the people who participate in a monthly protest ride to make cycling safer in our city. What better captures our community spirit than a vibrant mural of those shaping it? This is my favourite.
I love this uplifting colourful design. I LOVE that dog in the basket! I think it will lift a grey day and bring a smile to viewers’ faces :)
Nice! It’s a really cool design with vibrant colors that inspire the community to bike more often, especially in a place surrounded by inviting green areas.
This is absolutely my favourite! Love the colours and how vibrant it is. I live in the area, so I would love to have this one to look at when I am passing by 🥰
Yon's work was nominated at the Florence Biennale, capturing the eye with its direct and relatable style. For someone who once lived in Edinburgh, that touch of color is what makes the city even more beautiful, if possible!
This is stunning! We definitely need this in the area, the colours are so uplifting and imagery is just what we need!
So many colors and flow with this one. Brightness, happiness, relatable, I'd love to see such joy and play ripple out in art in our communities! Thank you!
