Sauchiebank Gardens - Option 6
Project code: 101
Project Summary
Have your say on which of these exciting mural designs is your preference. It is planned for the preferred designs to be painted in Dalry Community Park and Sauchiebank Gardens - two sections of the new Roseburn to Union Canal Link. We hope that you like the proposed designs. We think that they will add colour and vibrancy to the Link and further enhance the user experience.Project Description
Several mural designs have been produced by local artists and it is planned that one of these designs will be painted on walls within the newly reinvigorated Dalry Community Park and one will be painted along the retaining wall up the ramp from Russell Road within the Sauchiebank Gardens section. Three designs have been produced for each area and the public are invited to select which design they prefer for each area. It is then hoped that the preferred artist will be commissioned by Edinburgh Collective and the designs painted during the Spring / Summer of 2026.
Location: The northernmost section of the site, newly named Sauchiebank Gardens. The mural is proposed for the retaining wall that bounds the ramp that leads up from Russell Road.
Proposed on behalf of: The artistic interventions will be delivered through a collaboration of City of Edinburgh Council and Edinburgh Collective. Funding for the project has been secured from City of Edinburgh Council, Sustrans and Balfour Beatty, who acted as contractor for the overall Roseburn to Union Canal Link construction phase.
As a keen user of the cycle paths all over Edinburgh, I would love to see something as bright and colourful as this on my way around! It would really light up the area and add joy for passersby. I also think that the colours and playfulness provides a good contrast to the otherwise muted and grey scaled cityscape.
I really love this design! As a keen cyclist, it really speaks to me and I would love to see it around the city, brightening up the place with its cheery atmosphere. It certainly gets my vote!
I love this one, it's so vibrant with just a hint of silliness. The dog sells it for me
I really like this one for the colours and the joy spred throughout. The message is positive and optimistic, the girl on the bike is in armony with the surrounding and inspire us to improve our connection with the nature and the real world around us. Love it!
This is a lovely proposal, with cycling as one of the most inclusive ways of moving around. The female character is well aligned with the main goal of the project. As others mentioned, colours are wonderful and very adequate for an engaging intervention
Brilliant design- vibrant and charming! Edinburgh is such a beautiful city to cycle around, this mural is very fitting! Also that dog is rad 😎
Love this for Edinburgh! The vibrant colours will be a great addition to the grey and black tones of Auld Reekie's walls. Also what is more "Edinburgh" than bikes and dogs?
I really like the bright colours on this one a lot, it would really liven up the area around.
This mural reflects much more about the cultural life on the city and I feel is much more showing what we do and how we live here.
I am positive this mural will add value to all passers by now and in the future.
