Edinburgh Council’s Structures team is currently refurbishing the bridges along the West Approach Road
The Dalry – Living Well Locally project team was asked if they wanted to use this opportunity to improve the looks of the south side of the bridge. The project team successfully applied for funding from Sustrans Scotland to create a mural on the bridge, and appointed a local artist to create 3 design proposals that would suit the location
We would like to get your views on the 3 designs. You can 'support' one of the designs by clicking the support button of the design you prefer. Clicking on the design gives you the opportunity to provide comments
The nearby walk and cycle bridge to the north of the West Approach Road will get a Corten steel facade with a design that features people walking, wheeling and cycling
The consultation will run until 24 July 2024 and we will announce the winning design on the Dalry - Living Well Locally web page in August. The chosen design will then be painted on the bridge after the summer

Feedback to the presentation of the 3 Mural designs on this website, showed that the 'Floral option' was the clear favourite.
Following people's comments, artist Shona Hardie has made slight changes to the original design with the aim to make the colours more vibrant.
The preferred design has now been painted on Dalry bridge, and we want to thank artist Shona Hardie and Taziker, who funded the mural as part of their 'community benefits' that are part of the maintenance work they did on the West Approach Road bridges.
The response the Council and Shona Hardie received have been very positive: residents and visitors appreciate the colourful and welcoming artwork that reflects the multicultural community of Gorgie Dalry.
